Autumn's Arrival
Though technically Autumn does not arrive until tomorrow, it most definitely started for me Saturday morning. Autumn rarely starts for me at its regularly scheduled time any way. Saturday was perfect. It was a little chilly that morning, and I was the first one up. It was the kind of morning to drink your coffee out on the porch, so I did. Coffee taste different in Autumn, better. I knew it was Autumn because the crows were all about. Crows are not pretty and they can't sing, but god I love them. Though Rick and I both had quite a bit to do later on Saturday morning, we wrapped everything up early and had a really nice relaxed lunch together. You can also tell it's Autumn if you live in an older house, because suddenly you feel the need for socks on your feet. So we piddled around most of the day with socks on our feet, being goofy and flirty since Ethan and Alex were gone ;o) and Ryan just don't care!! Then Rick went into a football coma, watching Alabama switching over to some other game AND recording LSU. I wound up on the deck with a James Patterson tear jerker (as opposed to a James Patterson nail biter)and a Dr.Pepper (I am mildly addicted, but working on it). I just knew it was Autumn because there was that slant, that glint to everything. Everything was "gold" as Ponyboy said. Officially we can welcome my absolute favorite season of the year tomorrow, but Saturday did it for me. I'm already there.
